在不久前落幕的2022第四届鄂尔多斯赛艇大师赛中，宁波诺丁汉大学赛艇队横扫7项大奖。这也是继2019年获得“中国赛艇大师赛”男子八人单桨比赛的冠军后，宁诺赛艇队在国内大师赛的又一次突破。
鄂尔多斯赛艇大师赛是西北地区规模最大、影响力最强的水上运动赛事之一。本届赛事共吸引了来自全国36支队伍的420名选手参赛，其中，宁波诺丁汉大学赛艇队获得大学组男子四人双桨第二名、大师A组男子双人双桨第二和第三名；大学组女子四人双桨第三名和男子双人双桨的第二、三名；混合双人双桨也杀入了六强。
“宁诺从未招收体育特长生，
但我们的学生经常能在大赛中出成绩。”
宁波诺丁汉大学体育部校外竞赛主管梁帅表示，宁诺一直贯彻杨校长的博雅教育理念，鼓励学生通过课外活动和实践开拓视野、发展兴趣、锻炼技能。为此，学校提供了丰富多样的体育课和体育社团多元化，让学生能够爱上运动，参与校内外各项运动赛事，并养成终身运动的习惯。
目前，学校的体育课程和体育社团已涵盖近70种不同种类的运动，学生可根据自身兴趣参与。近年来，宁波诺丁汉大学还通过与英国诺丁汉大学的紧密合作，为学生提供攀岩、飞盘、击剑等新兴运动在内的体育课程。
与此同时，宁诺还为在校学生提供专业、高质量的体育设施。学校的室内体育设施包括配备近百种器材的健身中心、攀岩抱石墙、虚拟赛艇和自行车等，同时也有现代化的体育场馆。户外设施包括国内仅30个的全尺寸3G国际足联认证的人工草皮足球场、全新现代化的篮球场等。
宁波诺丁汉大学丰富多彩的体育课程与专业的体育设施助力宁诺学子在体育赛场上“更快、更高、更强、更团结”。刚刚在全国赛场上获得多枚奖牌的宁诺赛艇队便是最好的印证。
赛艇运动起源于英国，与名校密不可分。1829年牛津大学和剑桥大学的校际赛艇比赛被很多人视为现代赛艇运动起源。英国诺丁汉大学赛艇俱乐部也有百年历史，是欧洲各名校赛艇会的常客。
赛艇运动是英国诺丁汉大学百余年校园文化的传承，它培养学生坚韧的品格、出色的团队合作及领导力。作为诺丁汉大学全球大家庭的一员，宁诺校园内的赛艇文化早就风靡一时。校内还有一批热爱赛艇的中外师生，他们渴望在校内也能参与赛艇运动。
2018年，宁诺赛艇队在宁波市水上（游泳）运动学校支持下正式建队，这是宁波成立的第一支也是唯一一支大学生赛艇队。为此，在宁波市赛艇队支持与帮助下，宁诺赛艇队配备高校最强的教练团队和宁波最好的训练设施。成立以来，宁诺赛艇队多次参与国家级赛事，并在宁波各高校校园内推广赛艇文化。

今年刚毕业的罗天洋曾任宁诺赛艇队第一任队长。他说赛艇队的活动除了强身健体，也锻炼了他的领导能力。“赛艇培养了我们的规则意识和拼搏精神，全队在比赛中保持了步调一致。这些意志品质和团队精神对我们今后的生活、学习和工作，都是一笔财富。”
近年来，有越来越多的学生了解体育、爱上体育，并走出校园，在中国乃至世界范围内的各项赛事中获得优异成绩。在刚刚结束的暑期中，除了赛艇，宁诺学子在围棋、羽毛球、网球等其他体育项目中也再创佳绩。
在第八届浙江省大学生围棋锦标赛中，宁诺代表队斩获团体第二名。
此外，傅斌、孙铭远、夏禹分别获男子组个人第二、四、六名，康馨获女子组个人第四名。
在2022年浙江省大学生羽毛球锦标赛中，宁诺学子取得了“甲组男子团体第六名”和“甲组女子团体第五名”的好成绩。
在浙江省第十六届大学生运动会网球比赛中，张今今在全省265名运动员中脱颖而出，获得女子单打第二名。
UNNC rowing team wins top awards in national competition
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) Rowing Team recently won a number of awards after participating in the 2022 fourth Ordos Rowing Masters competition. This is the second time that UNNC has achieved a strong result in the national rowing competition, after winning the Men’s Eight in the 2019 China Rowing Masters competition.
The Ordos Rowing Masters is one of the largest and most influential water sports competitions in northwest China. The competition attracted a total of 420 players from 36 teams across the country, one of which was the UNNC rowing team. UNNC won second place in the University Men’s Quadruple Sculls, second and third places in the Men’s Double Sculls in the Master A Group, third place in Women’s Quad Sculls, second and third place in University Men’s Double sculls and sixth place in the Mixed Double Sculls. Liang Shuai, head of off-campus competitions at UNNC Sports Centre, said, “UNNC never actively recruits students with sports expertise, yet our students often excel in these kinds of competitions.”
Rowing is a traditional sport with more than 100 years of history at the UK University of Nottingham. As part of the global family of the University of Nottingham, UNNC has its own flourishing rowing community of Chinese and international staff and students.
The UNNC rowing team was officially established in 2018 and is the first and only university student rowing team to be established in Ningbo. Since its establishment, the UNNC rowing team has participated in a number of national competitions and has strongly promoted rowing culture on other university campuses in Ningbo.
Tianyang Luo, who just graduated this year, was the first captain of the UNNC rowing team. He believes his experiences in the rowing team have not only made him physically fitter, but have also equipped him with leadership skills. He said, “rowing has given the team and I a sense of comradeship and unity. The teamwork skills we have gained will be an asset to our future life, study and work.”
UNNC currently hosts nearly 70 different kinds of sports activities that are catered to students interests. In recent years, the Sports Centre has coordinated with the University of Nottingham UK campus to provide students with sport courses in rock climbing, frisbee, fencing, and more. UNNC also provides a range of high-quality sports facilities, including a fitness centre with nearly 100 kinds of equipment, a climbing boulder wall, outdoor soccer fields and basketball courts and much more.
